Arts NSW as part of Communities NSW has approved a grant of $36,000.00 to Orange City Council to continue the Orange Blayney Cabonne Regional Sustainable Collections Project. This funding will assist to engage an experienced collections project officer to continue work with museum volunteers to document and assess significance of collections, identify distinctive themes and significant items relating to the history, culturae and identity of the community. This is the fourth year of the project and 2011 will see the project focus on : –

  •  identifying distinctive themes and stories in each collection
  •  providing a workshop on exhibition development
  • provide a workshop to indigenous communities to assist in the identification and documentation of indigenous objects.

This funding continues the parternship between Orange, Cabonne and Blayney Council’s and the small museums and will demonstrate long term outcomes for the development of the arts and cultural industries and activities in NSW with a particular focus on heritage collections in rural and regional NSW. This project would not be possible with out the continued support of Arts NSW and MGNSW.
